“Let food be thy medicine, and thy medicine shall be thy food.“ —Hippocrates
Well, it is 2 days and counting until I formally act on a commitment to make healthy, life-giving choices, again! Somehow I’ve decided that sharing my journey with whoever is interested out there will be a level of accountability that I particularly need. For many years there has always been a component of my stated priorities in life that include maintaining a healthy lifestyle and proper relationship with food and physical activity. My motives have changed and shifted throughout the different seasons of life, though. In fact, they’ve been refined and informed by life and learnings about myself, and the abundance of information now available to those who desire a healthy lifestyle. I expect to learn and be exposed to new tools, resurrect a lifetime of learnings about myself, and seek out encouragers and experts along the way.
Weight management has been a success in life for me, until it’s not. And vice versa…..a failure in life for me, (or what seems like a failure), until it’s not. So my disordered connection to food is a lifelong struggle with major up and down swings. And I know that many of you can relate. For those that can’t relate, or have climbed this mountain and continue making healthy choices, I applaud you.
The plan is to post progress, learnings, challenges and successes to the Growing New Blog, as I feel it will be helpful. And while I’ll be definitely talking about the external, daily adherence to my own commitments, a lot of what will be outlined here deals with managing and reorienting my/our thinking, around a number of topics.
More to come on this…..and stay tuned for some external sources of info and motivation as we go forward. All of this will ultimately help to inform healthy choices and habits. My next blog post will detail a handful of goals tied to my health journey. Wish me luck and better still, I’d appreciate prayer.
Finally, I’m trusting and assuming that sharing my struggles, and anticipated day-to-day choices and challenges, will ultimately be encouraging to others. That’s the plan!
Growing New each day,
Robin
